Five Minute Makeup for the Makeup Lover
If you’re a makeup lover like me, you could spend hours in your bathroom getting ready. Playing with different eye colors, experimenting with new techniques… but getting ready quickly does not come naturally! When you only have a short amount of time to get ready for the day, you have to be strategic. Every girl has their favorite features and their “weak” areas. Focus on a few to cover and a few to highlight to finish your makeup in five minutes. This is my go-to routine for when time is scarce.
Cover-up
I’m one of the lucky women that still gets adult-acne. In addition, I have freckles and dark circles under my eyes. It’s the complete trifecta! So, my first step is always concealer. I cover all the flawed areas and gently blend.
Foundation
Depending on the outing, I either choose a liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Then, I add a thin layer of powder to cover any shininess.
Contouring
I don’t contour the typical way when pressed for time. Usually, I create subtle accents with my bronzer for a slimming effect. I never skip this! I simply brush bronzer beneath my cheekbone, under my jaw, my forehead, and my neck. Sometimes, I add color to my collar bone if I’m wearing a tank top. Finally, I add a little blush to my cheekbone.
Now you can highlight your best features. I believe the features that make the biggest impact are typically wide eyes, and juicy lips. So, my next moves are as follows.
Mascara
If I have an extra second to spare, I may sweep a light brown shadow on my eyelid. If not, I ditch the shadow and liner, and just apply mascara. Try to avoid heavy mascara when you are not using liner to balance. Instead, keep your look natural, which will help with your time restraint! Larger eyes help you look awake and simulate a younger appearance.
Lip liner/ Lipstick
I feel it’s vital to balance your makeup. If you have color upon your eyes, it’s a good idea to balance with a lip accent. The natural pink color will offer you a fresh, lively look. Luscious lips are not something to miss out on, even if you’re in a hurry! At my age, I like to camouflage my lip wrinkles with a little lip-liner, but I don’t find it necessary in my five-minute plan!
And there you have it. It’s truly incredible how five short minutes can transform a person.
What is your quick makeup routine? I’d love to hear your approach!

Use dry shampoo when don’t have time to wash and blow-dry! My favorite brand is Batiste.
